He is the most successful driver in Formula 1 history and, at 41, still chasing more — now in Ferrari red. Here's Lewis Hamilton's story and how his 2026 season is unfolding.

Who is Lewis Hamilton?

A seven-time World Champion, the British driver won his first title with McLaren in 2008 and six more across a golden era at Mercedes. With a record 105 Grand Prix wins — more than any driver in history — he is already one of the sport's all-time greats.

The Ferrari move

After 12 seasons and six titles with Mercedes, Hamilton made the blockbuster switch to Ferrari for 2025 — the biggest transfer in modern Formula 1. His first year in red was a struggle, ending 2025 without a single podium for the first time in his career.

Back to his best in 2026

2026 has been a different story. Hamilton says he feels 'more connected' to the new, lighter Ferrari — which he helped develop in the simulator — and scored his first podium for the Scuderia at the Chinese Grand Prix. He sits inside the championship's top three.

Silverstone 2026

At his home British Grand Prix, Hamilton took a hard-fought podium in third — a hugely popular result in front of the Silverstone crowd. See our British Grand Prix report.
