Kimi Antonelli Receives Special Gifts from Ayrton Senna’s Family Ahead of Brazilian GP

In a heart‑warming pre‑race ceremony, Formula 1 rookie Kimi Antonelli was presented with a bundle of personal items from the family of Ayrton Senna, the Brazilian legend who dominated the sport in the 1990s. According to Motorsport.com and Yahoo Sports, the gifts were handed to Antonelli during a visit to the Senna estate in São Paulo, a gesture that the driver described as “a proud moment” and a reminder of the legacy he hopes to honour on the track.

The collection included a pair of Senna’s racing gloves, a miniature replica of the 1991 Monaco Grand Prix car, and a handwritten note from Senna’s mother, Maria de Fátima. Antonelli, who is set to race for the Alpine team in Brazil, said the items “give me an extra boost of confidence” and “connect me to the spirit of the sport in a very personal way.” He also thanked the family for their support, noting that the experience reinforced his determination to make his own mark in Formula 1.

Senna’s family has long been involved in preserving the driver’s legacy, operating the Ayrton Senna Foundation and the Senna Museum in São Paulo. The gesture comes as the Interlagos circuit hosts the Brazilian Grand Prix on 28 April, a race that has historically been a showcase for Brazilian talent and a tribute to Senna’s impact on the sport. Fans in India will be able to watch the event live on FanCode, with the race scheduled to start at 6:00 PM IST.

For Indian viewers, the Brazilian GP is a chance to see how the sport’s global heritage plays out in a country that has produced its own racing stars, such as former F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan. The event is also a reminder of the deep cultural ties that bind Formula 1 to its international audience, and the way legends like Senna continue to inspire new generations of drivers worldwide.
