In a fresh look at how Formula 1 is evolving beyond the track, a recent report by Grande Prêmio highlights a dramatic shift in fan engagement, with gaming and digital experiences taking centre stage. The study, which surveyed over 10,000 international fans, found that 68 % now spend more than 20 minutes a week interacting with F1‑related games, apps, or virtual reality content, compared to just 35 % in 2023.

One of the key drivers behind this surge is the launch of the official F1 Game 2026, which offers realistic physics, real‑time telemetry, and a multiplayer mode that lets players compete against each other in virtual Grand Prix. According to the report, the game has already attracted more than 2 million downloads worldwide and has been praised for its immersive pit‑stop mechanics and authentic driver commentary. The rise of esports tournaments, such as the F1 Esports Championship, has also helped bring younger audiences into the fold, with prize pools now exceeding $500,000.

Beyond gaming, the report notes that social media engagement has seen a 22 % increase, driven largely by short‑form video content and interactive polls. Teams are now partnering with popular content creators to produce behind‑the‑scenes footage and live‑streaming sessions that allow fans to ask questions directly to drivers and engineers. This trend is expected to continue as Formula 1 explores new ways to connect with a global, tech‑savvy audience.

For Indian fans, the shift to digital means more ways to stay connected with the sport. The FanCode app, which streams live races in high definition, now offers exclusive in‑app challenges and virtual merchandise that can be earned through gameplay. Indian viewers can also watch the 2026 season on FanCode from 3:00 PM IST, with the platform providing real‑time commentary in Hindi and English. As the sport embraces these new engagement channels, Indian fans are poised to experience Formula 1 in a more interactive and immersive way than ever before.
