Lights out in Barcelona. The 2026 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix is under way, and it is George Russell who leads the field away from pole position - with the championship's form man, Kimi Antonelli, lining up third and hunting a sixth straight win. If you are just tuning in from India, the race is live on FanCode, with lights out at 6:30 PM IST.
The grid: Russell on pole, Mercedes and Ferrari side by side
George Russell put his Mercedes on pole with a 1:14.679 - but only just. Lewis Hamilton, in the Ferrari, joined him on the front row a mere 0.064s back, one of the tightest front rows of the season. Russell's team-mate Kimi Antonelli qualified third, ahead of Lando Norris (McLaren) in fourth and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) fifth.
The rest of the top ten: Isack Hadjar (Red Bull) sixth, Oscar Piastri (McLaren) seventh, Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) eighth and Nico Hulkenberg (Audi) ninth. The big casualty of qualifying was Charles Leclerc, who crashed his Ferrari at Turn 4 in Q3 and starts well down the order - turning his afternoon into a damage-limitation drive through the field.
The title picture: Antonelli's streak meets a Mercedes wall
Antonelli arrives as the man to beat - five wins in a row, including last weekend's Monaco Grand Prix. But for once he has work to do on a Sunday, starting third behind both Russell and Hamilton. In the constructors' championship, Mercedes lead the way on 244 points, ahead of Ferrari on 165 and McLaren on 116. A Russell win would stretch that advantage; Ferrari need Hamilton to convert the front row.

What to watch for
- Turn 1, lap 1: can Russell convert pole, or does Hamilton's front-row tow make it three-wide into the first corner?
- Antonelli on a charge: the form driver has two fast cars to clear if the streak is to reach six.
- Leclerc's recovery: from the back of the grid, how far can the Ferrari climb on a circuit that punishes worn tyres?
Full result, podium and championship fallout will be live on Pitlane Press India the moment the chequered flag drops.
