The Formula 1 World Championship battle is heating up as Andrea Antonelli's once commanding lead has been significantly eroded over the past three Grand Prix weekends. As the circus heads to the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit for the Belgian Grand Prix, the standings reveal a tightening three-way fight for the drivers' title.

Before the lights go out at Spa, Antonelli sits atop the leaderboard with 179 points. However, his nearest rivals are now within striking distance. George Russell trails by 25 points, while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is a further seven points behind Russell, at 32 points adrift of the leader, according to Formula1.com and Sky Sports. This represents a dramatic shift from just a few races ago, with Antonelli's lead diminishing by a substantial 41 points across the last three events, none of which saw him victorious.

The resurgence of the established stars is clearly evident. Lewis Hamilton, in particular, has found formidable form in his Ferrari. He has secured four podium finishes in the last five Grands Prix, a streak highlighted by his maiden victory for the Scuderia at Barcelona. Adding to the intense competition, Charles Leclerc secured his ninth career win at Silverstone, leading a Ferrari 1-2 off the line in a dominant display at the British Grand Prix. This renewed strength from both Ferrari drivers poses a significant challenge to Antonelli's championship aspirations.

The pressure is mounting on the young pretender. Antonelli himself has acknowledged the threat, noting that Hamilton is "smelling the possibility of winning." This sentiment is echoed by Russell, who was quoted by F1i stating that Hamilton "is going to be a real threat." At just 19 years old, Antonelli is aiming to become the youngest-ever Formula 1 World Champion, a record currently held by Sebastian Vettel. However, with seasoned champions like Hamilton hitting their stride, the path to that historic achievement is becoming increasingly challenging.

For fans in India, the Belgian Grand Prix qualifying and race can be followed live on FanCode, with practice sessions also available. The enhanced competition at the sharp end of the grid promises an electrifying second half of the season as Antonelli defends his lead against the charging Hamilton and Russell.
