Alpine team principal Otmar "Mekies" Szafnauer has given fans a clearer picture of Isack Hadjar’s recovery after the French driver suffered a foot injury during the summer break. According to a statement on Formula1.com, the 19‑year‑old’s rehabilitation is progressing well and there are no lingering issues that could jeopardise his return to the cockpit.
Hadjar missed the last three rounds – Zandvoort, Monza and the inaugural Miami Grand Prix – after a heavy crash in the practice session at the Dutch Grand Prix left him with a fractured metatarsal. The injury required surgery and an extensive physiotherapy programme, which kept him sidelined while Alpine focused on fielding Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
Szafnauer told reporters that Hadjar has completed the majority of his physiotherapy milestones and is now working on race‑specific conditioning. "Nothing is wrong with his recovery; the only question now is when he feels 100 % ready to race," the team boss said. He added that the team is in close contact with the French driver’s medical team and will make a final decision based on Hadjar’s own confidence level.
While a definitive return date has not been set, the Alpine camp hinted that the Frenchman could be back for the upcoming race in Singapore, which takes place on 21‑23 September. If Hadjar does step back onto the grid, it would be his first race since the Dutch Grand Prix in early August, giving him a chance to finish the season strong and gather valuable points for his rookie campaign.
For India: The Singapore Grand Prix will be broadcast live on FanCode with commentary in English and Hindi. The race starts at 20:00 IST on Thursday, 21 September, and runs through the weekend. Indian fans can also follow live timing on the official F1 app, which provides real‑time updates on Hadjar’s performance should he return.
