Ferrari’s management is sharpening its focus on the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix after a string of disappointing weekend performances. In a post‑race interview, team principal Frederic Vasseur said the Scuderia must "execute weekends more cleanly" if it hopes to break the current slump, following the team’s recent struggles to convert strong qualifying into podium‑contending race results.
Vasseur’s remarks came after the German driver Nico Rosberg pointed out the team’s "Achilles heel" during the Baku race. Rosberg, who finished fifth in the 2023 season, said the cars are still capable of speed but are plagued by reliability and consistency issues. He noted that the team’s performance dips when the race demands a more strategic approach, especially on the narrow, twisty Baku strip where tyre management and pit‑stop precision are paramount.
In his interview with Sky Sports F1, Vasseur acknowledged that the team’s recent results have been underwhelming, with only one podium finish in the last five races. He stressed that the goal for Baku is not just a podium but a demonstration that the car can finish races without the mechanical hiccups that have plagued the season. "We have the pace, but we need to bring the race performance up to the same level," Vasseur said. He added that the team is working closely with the engineering department to identify the root causes of the inconsistencies and to implement corrective measures before the next race.
